Tarzana Personal Injury Lawyer, Barry P. Goldberg
Although Barry P. Goldberg may be most well known as a “Woodland Hills” personal injury attorney because that is the location of his office, he has deep roots in the adjoining community of Tarzana. In fact, he lived in Tarzana for 6th grade of elementary school at Wilbur, attended Gaspar De Portola middle school in Tarzana and lived in Tarzana while attending William Howard Taft High School.
Barry played in the Tarzana Little League, regularly rode his bike around Tarzana Recreation Center, up Reseda Boulevard to the Santa Monica Mountains, snuck on to Braemar Country Club to play golf and covered every inch of the neighborhood. In fact, Barry lived close to the Edgar Rice Burroughs Estate who was the author of “Tarzan” from which Tarzana got its name.
Why is this important? Barry knows the traffic nuances in Tarzana literally from the street level. Like the real estate agents say—Barry knows your neighborhood, your street and has probably seen the inside of your house! So, when an accident occurs in Tarzana, Barry understands the traffic conditions, the speed limits and the obstructed views.
Perhaps more importantly, Barry knows his Tarzana neighbors and understands that his clients want first class service and prompt fair compensation.
Dangerous Driving Conditions in Tarzana
Have you ever tried to get on or off the 101 Ventura Freeway in Tarzana? We have seen many accidents related to the on and off ramps in Tarzana. People not from Tarzana are often confused simply by the placement of the ramps—- especially for Reseda Boulevard. When drivers are confused, they can make poor driving decisions. Entering the eastbound 101 Freeway on Burbank Boulevard is counter-intuitive. Moreover, the onramp virtually overlaps with the driveway for the Tarzana Hospital. If a driver hesitates or tries to change lanes at the last minute, it results in an accident.
The off ramps for Reseda Boulevard are not much better. One of the largest cases ever handled by our office involved an out of control truck exiting the westbound 101 Freeway at Reseda Boulevard. Moreover, the intersection at the off ramp is a true San Fernando Valley nightmare, especially if you intend to make a left turn to go Southbound on Reseda Boulevard. The traffic can be tremendous in the southbound direction and drivers often get caught in the intersection which blocks exiting left turners. Unexpected stops on that green light result in rear end accidents or T-bone accidents to southbound traffic.
If that were not enough, the eastbound off ramp of the 101 Freeway has its own dangerous and unique traffic pattern. The problem is created by exiting drivers at Reseda desiring to first turn right, then immediately transition into the left turn lane for eastbound Burbank Boulevard — a matter of only a few feet away. Not only are the left turn pockets backed up, but oncoming southbound traffic on Reseda Boulevard is unforgiving. This results in another “green light” back up on the freeway off ramp and then a “ninja” maneuver to insert your vehicle into a line of stopped cars trying to make their own left turn onto Burbank Boulevard! Not surprisingly, many accidents occur near Reseda Boulevard and the 101 Freeway.
Of course that is only one of the tricky ramps in Tarzana. The Vanalden Avenue on ramp to eastbound 101 is unique, does not have an off ramp or an on ramp to westbound 101. Strangers to Tarzana have a hard time even finding the Tampa Avenue on ramp to the westbound 101. Again, when drivers are confused, accidents happen.
Auto v. Pedestrian Accidents in Tarzana
Although Tarzana is considered one of the more affluent areas in the San Fernando Valley, there is a sizeable apartment-dwelling population and an increasing immigrant population of Eastern European and Persian residents. Many of these residents visit the multicultural shops and restaurants in and around the stretch of Reseda Boulevard, between Burbank Boulevard and Ventura Boulevard.
Recently released statistics show that the auto v. pedestrian accidents in Tarzana are among the highest in the San Fernando Valley. When a pedestrian is hit by a motor vehicle, very special handling is required. Not only are the injuries almost always significant, but the insurance issues are complex. Often, auto v. pedestrian accidents are also “hit and run” accidents. Most people are unaware that they are protected by their own auto insurance policy in these situations id they have “Uninsured Motorist” coverage. However, there are strict rules and reporting requirements that must be handled immediately.
Car Accidents
In and around Tarzana, we see car accidents on a daily basis. While many of these accidents could be classified as “minor,” a significant number result in severe vehicle damage and serious traumatic injuries. Pain, headaches, swelling, limited mobility, and other symptoms can all be signs of serious injuries, and we encourage anyone who has been involved in a collision to seek medical attention right away.
The effects of traumatic injuries from a car accident can last a lifetime. Attorney Barry P. Goldberg understands this, and he will make sure that the insurance companies do not take advantage of you and convince you to settle for less than you deserve.
Truck Accidents
Truck accidents are far more common than most people realize, and they account for a disproportionately-high number of accident-related injuries and fatalities. Countless commercial trucks pass through Tarzana every day, picking up shipments, making deliveries, and causing accidents with devastating consequences.
Commercial truck accident cases tend to be complicated. Large trucks are highly complex and there are often multiple vehicles involved in these crashes. And from trucking and shipping companies to truck manufacturers, there are numerous parties that can be responsible for the victims’ losses. Mr. Goldberg has the experience needed to win these difficult cases, and he can use this experience to secure the compensation you deserve.
Bicycle Accidents
Whether for transportation, exercise, or recreation, if you are like many Tarzana locals, you ride your bicycle on a regular basis. Unfortunately, while bicycles are good for our health and great for the environment, they offer virtually no protection from negligent drivers. Cyclists who are involved in collisions with motor vehicles often suffer severe traumatic injuries, and getting back to riding can require extensive medical treatment followed by long-term rehabilitation and recovery.
If you were injured while riding a bicycle in Tarzana, you have the same rights as anyone else injured in a vehicle-related accident. These include the right to be treated fairly by the insurance companies, the right to just compensation, and the right to experienced legal representation.
Motorcycle Accidents
While some may think that motorcycle riders put themselves and others at risk on the road, the reality is that most serious collisions involving motorcycles are the result of negligence by “cage” drivers. Whether due to misjudging distances or misunderstanding the rules of the road, car drivers are routinely to blame in serious and fatal motorcycle accidents. Distracted driving, drunk driving, and other forms of negligence are common factors in costly motorcycle collisions as well.
You do not deserve to be disrespected by the insurance companies simply because you choose to ride a motorcycle. Mr. Goldberg can set the record straight, and he can use critical evidence to prove the cause of your accident and help you win just compensation.
Wrongful Death
If you need to speak with a lawyer about filing a wrongful death claim as a result of a fatal accident in Tarzana, let us first offer our deepest sympathies. You are experiencing something that no one should ever have to endure, and we understand that you are likely struggling with one of the most difficult times of your life.
Wrongful death claims are unique in California. The insurance companies fight these claims even harder than usual, and there are special laws that apply. Attorney Barry P. Goldberg knows what it takes to help grieving families recover, and he is available to help you in your time of need.
Dog Bites
Dog bites can result in severe, disabling, and disfiguring injuries. In addition to injuries from the bite itself, injuries from falling, infection risks, and other factors can prolong dog attack victims’ recoveries and lead to exorbitant medical expenses. Tarzana Personal Injury Attorney, Barry Goldberg routinely represents clients who have experienced traumatic dog attacks, and he has a long and proven track record of securing favorable insurance settlements for his clients’ injuries.
Slip-and-Fall Accidents
Like other types of accidents, slips, trips, and falls usually happen when you least expect them. As a result, falling from a walking or standing position can result in severe injuries, including spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, and broken bones. The consequences of a fall from height, such as a fall from an unsafe ladder or due to a loose railing giving way, can be even more severe, with many fall victims suffering lasting effects that lead to a lifetime of disability, pain, and suffering.
If you fell on public or private property in Tarzana, you may be entitled to a significant financial recovery. Injury Attorney Barry P. Goldberg can help you understand your rights, and he will fight aggressively to make sure you win just compensation.
