San Fernando Valley, California – Attorney Barry P. Goldberg donated $1,000 to the Los Angeles Police Department Devonshire PALS Youth Program as part of his law firm’s December Charity Donate-a-Thon.
The Greg Smith LAPD Devonshire Youth Center is a safe and welcoming environment where children of the Northwest community can attend after school programs, interact with police officers and learn valuable life skills. The staff, volunteers, and police officers who work at the center are committed to teaching our youth leadership, integrity and character. The program includes access to computer labs, sports programs, tutoring opportunities, mentoring and more. Mr. Goldberg was overwhelmed by the organization and its focus, sharing that it offers “all the things we take for granted as parents that we forget are not available to the less fortunate—safe place to go after school. Mr. Goldberg, a long time resident of the San Fernando Valley, felt compelled to give back in a more significant way this year, after a stellar 2016 for his law practice. With the help of the local community, Mr. Goldberg will be selecting four charitable organizations to which he can make a $1000 donation. In an effort to reach individuals throughout the Valley and beyond, Mr. Goldberg ran a Facebook campaign asking people to provide their suggestions as to which organizations were in the most need and why. The campaign went viral and Mr. Goldberg was overjoyed at the response.
Mr. Goldberg was able to visit the Youth Center on November 30 and meeting the great kids, volunteers, and policewomen and men made the contribution all the more significant in his eyes. He was greatly touched by the time, energy, and love of community that he found in the Center and looks forward to being a part of future events down the road.
