The Statute of Limitations in California
The statute of limitations refers to the amount of time one has to pursue legal action against another person or company after an incident that causes damages or injury.
The statute varies depending on the type of case: personal injury cases have shorter statutes than wrongful death claims. In some cases, statutes may be extended if fraud is involved or a long delay between when the incident occurred and when it was reported to the police or other authority.
The statute of limitations for personal injury cases in California is three years from the date of the incident. If you miss this deadline, then you may not be able to pursue your claim.
Someone’s Negligence Shouldn’t Keep You From The Compensation You Deserve
